Sweet Peas go in on the third Monday in February

dscf0061.jpg It was only by chance that I put the sweet pea seeds in the ground on exactly the right weekend, which happens to be Presidents Day weekend.  M, age 2, helped which is why the little spouts are strewn clumped together in patches.  She was dumping them out of her little hand all at once and then we would move on, creating another little patch as we went.  It was extremely gratifying to see those little dudes shoot up with no more help from me than the dirt over their little black seed backs.

My thoughts turn now to methods of staking.

It’s the beginning of Spring, March, 2008.
